Finally! A keeper!

27 lbs and lots of fun. In the fleet at the bend in the river upriver from Camas marina. I got up there around 8AM. Don't know how it was early but saw about 10 caught? Maybe someone in the heart of the fleet, I was below them a bit, can give more details. That's the way it seems to have been since Sunday. Not hot but a good chance of catching a fish.

Pic isn't so good. Gotta work on the remote pix control, get a clamp on "tripod" so I can take pix on the boat.

14 ft of water
Brass/red bead spinner/gold hooks
4 ft leader
3 ft lead

Got it around 2PM which would be tide half way out.

I also had two natives, a feisty 8 lb native Steelhead (about 11AM) and a 10 lb native Chinook (about 2:30PM).

Ratio makes it 6 natives to 1 keeper since Sunday.

FWF1,

Getting scary...the other day Jack pulls up and anchors next to me looking for fish.

Actually what worked was fishing up at Bonneville with Julie Cates and seeing the guy next to us nail 12 fish on brass and red beads.

We all got religion (and four fish). After that I've been a 15 feet, brass/red bead kinda guy.

graemlins/applause.gif Congratulations on the beautiful fish. Sounds like you had a good day on the big river. And thanks for including such details in your report as the depth you were fishing, the tide state, and the time you caught each fish. Nice fish. Good report. Well done. graemlins/applause.gif

Elwix,

One more piece of info.

I just got back from Fisherman's and the lure (for those who don't make their own) that has been hitting them for me is the Lurh Jensen Clearwater Flash No.7 with the CV Blade

I think a No. 6 might work even better...but they don't have any.

Garyk,

On the scents, I was using Mike's Glo Scent Herring but I'm told my spy abilities are deteriorating and it should be Mike's Glo Scent with no label.

Noting today for me...looked slow...saw one other fish caught.

Going to fish tonight until the fire works.

I'm trying to figure out how to use my cell phone with my laptop which means I'll be fishing and Ifishing at the same time

Uhh, say it aint so. an internet intervienous?

I had the verizon mobile office, and the laptop, and the 12v power supply, heck I was surfing in Montana 35 miles in the woods camping!..It felt like an unhealthy addiction. As soon as the garage is clean, I will have a perfect excuse to quit posting here so often, but that garage is a mess!..Need to take breaks now and then, what better way than to ramble on like a little girl on the telephone here at IFish.net.

Nice fish. I expect MPEG movies of your next catch sent wirelessly from the boat if your going to get the "internet intervienous".

cotr,

Nice fish. I expect MPEG movies of your next catch sent wirelessly from the boat if your going to get the "internet intervienous". <font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Actually I have one of the youngest battling a monster Chinook near the jetty at Tillamook. I took it by accident. Hit the wrong button on the camera but it came out OK.

It's 5 MB if anyone has the time and the bandwith. Uh...he's not a 200 lb midget, that's his lifejacket under the sweatshirt.

Mike and the Monster (http://www.olyc.com/images/Mike.MOV)

I can do internet with the phone itself (Palm) or via the cell phone as modem but it's hideously slow, 14K. They are coming out with G3 phones which should do data at close to 56K in which case Jennie is going to need some new user catergories (Black Marlin, Blue Fin Tuna, Giant Squid, etc.).

5 Cents....I've been keeping it down on the brass/red bead thing...just me...David Johnson and ******, both of whom told me...and a few thousand Ifishers.

Ifishing while fishing? That would be decadent. Fun but decadent. Go for it. You could even put a web cam on the boat! (Nudge. Nudge. Wink. Wink.) They actually have a cam on a boat that cruises around Loch Ness looking for Nessie.

Personally, when I’m fishing, I’m usually so busy watching for other boats, backbouncing my spinners, eyeing the eagles and ospreys, putting the top up and down on the boat, organizing my tackle, untangling my line, reading my fishing mags, looking up at the clouds, watching my rod tip, and shooting the breeze with friends, that I wouldn’t have much time to browse the web.

graemlins/program.gif Besides, I work with computers all day every day, and I think it’s good for me to get away from them now and then. Ifishing while fishing is an amusing idea thought though.

As far as the spinners go, I’ve got several red bead and brass spinners, but none from a package labeled Clearwater Flash, so I dropped by Fisherman’s today to check out the spinners you recommended. They didn’t have one Clearwater Flash left with a gold blade and a red bead body. They had a zillion other spinners, but I didn’t see any Clearwater Flash spinners with a brass blade and red beads. That’s okay though. I have oodles of other spinners, and quite a few Clearwater Flash spinners. And I spent more money in that store today than I should have anyway. But while I was walking out I couldn’t help wondering how much this site helps local tackle shops. Lots I suspect. Thanks for the recommendation though, and good luck on your next trip out on the big river. Looking forward to your next report.
