Had an hr to burn around 12:30 and headed up to the hatchery hole below the cork line. The area was baren of rods, and reels, and I headed down to the water.
Made 1 cast with a Red maribou set at 30" for depth and fish on! 10lb Chrome buck. Bled it and put it on ice and headed for home. Sliced 1/4" thick strips from the center after filleting and quickly devoured. The flavor was awesome!!
Never tried it before so I am pleased with the results.

congrats on the fish graemlins/applause.gif but Im not shure about the sushi  If I would try sushi I would feel safer if it was an ocean caught salmon thats just me. probably no difference between them, i just like my fish cooked on the BBQ

If you are concerned about parasites, freeze the raw fillet till frozen solid, then thaw, but keep refrigerated. Kills any potential bad guys.
Yum, Yum, Yum, nothin better than fresh sushi!!!!
Cooking only adds fats, and calories, and nitrates and more. Much better to eat in the raw, IMHO. hats off to you. -j

Congrats on the fish.

"The hatchery hole below the cork line" is pretty much likely to be at the hatchery.

Please do not eat salmonid (salmon trout steelie) or any freshwater fish sushi unless its been frozen (dubious value) or cured like ceviche with salt and vinegar. They are guaranteed to harbor parasites. Iron Chef is wrong. Every survival manual worth putting in your small plane tells you this. Medical school tells you this. But if you absolutely must do it, I hope you have a lot of weight to lose from the malabsorption disorder you will get (at the very least). Doc.

Malabsorption: Failure to properly digest and absorb nutrients?? You may be onto something, Doc. How much weight? How quickly?

There was a get thin quick scheme a few years back that promised up to a 100lbs weight loss for only the price of two capsules. They contained tapeworm eggs. They rob you of calories and important nutrients, such as Vit B12 and Iron. The worms can invade your biliary tract and obstruct bile outflow. Big time juandice. Eventually you die. Bloated green liver failure or withered neuropathic wreck. Take you pick. Eat it up. See me later. Doc.

Yep, good sushi restaurants would never consider using river caught fish, even if frozen. If you do freeze to kill parasites, they suggest 0 degrees for 60 hours to kill the larvae.
Here is a short course I found about parasites found in fish from the Pacific Ocean.
Pacific fish parasite article (http://www.bigfishtackle.com/Articles/georges_fish_tales_parasites.htm)
That'll curl your toes. You won't be eating raw fish sushi anymore. Cook it or freeze it properly.
