What kind of bait fish do the big browns and brookies that are in the Upper Dechutes river (near Wickiup and Craine Prairie) feed on? What lures closely represent these bait fish (size, color, brand etc) Thanks

That depends on where you are fishing. If you are talking about the Deschutes below Wickiup,( In the Lapine to Sun River area for example). Use Rapala CD 7 minnows in a Rainbow Trout pattern.
If you are talking the Deschutes between Crane and Wickiup, To me that is mostly fly fishing water. Use terrestrials like grasshoppers or flying ants and bounce them off of logs, rocks, etc. along the banks. (If you don't fly fish you could try some small spinners like rooster tails)
If you are talking above Crane Prairie, just about any small fly will do.

The Deschutes above Crane Prarie is a small river - flies or small spoons work best. There are salmonflies up there at certain times of the year but generally any good floating dry will do.
Below Wickiup - Rapalas in rainbow or Silver/black. Match whatever is hatching for fly fishing.
