When tying an egg loop instead of runing your line through the eye first, lay it along side the shank. Then tie your eggloop, but before tighting the knot slide it down the shank then pull it tight. Add a drop of super glue. This will give you a longer egg loop and won't cut the skien as easy.

Never thought of "Super Glue", but it sounds like a good start at home trick. Don't think I could use it to well on the river bank following a break off. Especially if it is raining. But to rig at home, how sweet it is.

I think I may have over 10 posts but here's an easier way. When wrapping the line on the shank for the egg loop just wrap 15-20 times & you get the same affect with the line not cutting into the skein. I can never find that tube of superglue laying around anyways.
