Several Ifish members have taken advantage of the 15% discount, I will hold this deal through June/2003. How are the pilots working for all of you that purchased the Gold model?

Thanks Pete/TR-1

Pete,
My TR-1 is the single best accessary I've added to my boat. Can't say enough good things about it.   Im no longer tied to the trolling motor I can standup streach, tie up rigs, get out of the rain. It has doubled fishing my enjoyment.

Thank you for the offered 15%.

I'm looking into your product, and would like to hear from Ifishers as to what features of the TR-1 you like the best?

I was fishing with Dennis Stewart today, and he thinks they are sweet!

He said that it gives guides a huge benefit, because the operator can better assist in baiting hooks and help clients catch more fish while maintaining your course.

Also, it's awesome for keeping the boat straight, (utilizing reverse), while anchored, when the wind is coming off the stern.

He's talking us right into it. Hey, Dennis... How come you don't have one, then?

Peter,

The TR-1 Gold is working fine. Thanks for the discount also. Don't know how I got along so long without one. Worked well in the wind in reverse at Astoria today, sturgeon fishing. Regards.

Just got back from Newport. The best trip I ever made. Met Peter and his crew. Got the "Royal
Treatment" from all involved. If I can get that there thingamabob to do everything Peter showed me it would do I won't have to leave the house. I'll just send the boat out to catch fish. LOL Thanks Peter you guys are a class act.

Things I like other than the auto pilot and remote steering are Zig Zag patterns and step turns. Have not hooked it to the gps yet....Then we can do some more interesting stuff.

By far the best gadget on the boat....No...my wife says the Port-A-Potti is the best thing on the boat...So I guess it must be #2.

Lipripper, was that the best old video you have ever seeeen or what!!!!  or the most expensive.hahaha

I put the TR-1 on my boat in 1996 and had alot of funny looks from people   as I drove by with no one manning the wheel or kicker  but as I have suggested, it's the best thing since sliced bread for anyone!

We got a week or so left, and need more pictures/testimonials for our news letter, so snap a shot of your boat with a TR-1, and a fish if you got one?

Hey Peter, Love mine as well. How about putting on a clinic so those of us that haven't figured everything out could.

Metalhead has hit on a good idea.....

Can we have a little Q & A....And maybe a forum for us normal people who read the manual and say &%$#...I don't get this?

The basic stuff that is what we use 97% of the time is easy...The special set up stuff is a bit of a puzzle.

I replaced the 96 model with a gold during the sportmans show and I try to learn a new trick every few trips.

Anyone else need a little clinic on the advanced stuff?

This thing ROCKS!!!

Hey Peter -
I have been out on several buds boats and seen what a super device you have come up with in the TR1 Gold model. I just put the new four stroke on and am trying to sell a few things to get up enough for one of my own. I hope I can make it for the special limited time offer!

Pete,

I'm seriously thinking about getting a TR-1 Gold this month. I was going to call the 1-800 number listed on the TR-1 site but thought I would reply to this posting first. I live in the Portland area...What are my best options for taking advantage of the June 15% discount?

I would not mind comming to the Portland area to install TR-1 autopilots for the IFISH members, I like to group up at least five of them, Or an appointment can allways be made in Newport.( Oregon Coast) So any members who are considering a TR-1, as I have mentioned before, " It is time for a TR-1"
If needed I can allways be reached after hours at 503-329-5117

It is days like this that make me feel sorry for those who have to run the tiller handle by hand, see a TR-1 will not only keep you from getting cold and soaked, but will save you from sun stroke as well. It is 94 in Newport today!

Pete,

I'll try to give you a call on your cell in a few days to get more details and see if you have any folks placing orders in the Portland area. I'm 90% sure that I cannot live without one

Thanks!

I like the product but unfortunately had to return the whole unit last week because it had stopped working. I've only owned the unit one year but have only used it for a few months at best. The hand unit had corroded inside which now has me a little freaked. The hand unit was replaced (apparently they just fixed the old one as opposed to giving me a new one). I hope that I haven't received a lemon.

Has anybody else had their unit break down? How long is the oldest unit been out there and does it still work?

We have 5000 pilots out in the field, with the TR-1 Gold I am able to totally submerge the handheld, it is water proof. I spoke to the repair department after reading this message, they did say this was the first one they saw that got moisture inside the handheld. The input from those who use our products help us better our autopilot. TR-1 is a company that never stops improving the system, we are allways working on ways to keep water out! And to best satisfy our customers. I ensure you that you did not recieve a Lemon. Also I would like to remind all of our customers that we are the only company in the world that manufactures a kicker motor autopilot, this means that what we do here is noway a simple slap together device. Think flat bottom sled, the minimal thrust of a kicker, and just what it takes to hold your boat straight on course.

Thanks Pete/TR-1

What will this unit do with a GPS? Can it be linked with a depth finder so as to follow a bottom contour? Can it be used to hold a given position against moderate current?

peter frederick
06-09-2003, 07:50 AM
When you link your TR-1 to GPS the autopilot, and you do not have a selected waypoint, we will run course over ground, if a waypoint/route is selected we will follow your GPS. Also you can tell the autopilot to goto a waypoint and begin a three leif clover, search, or orbit the waypoint. At this time we do not track to depth, or follow bottom contour.

Thanks for the response, Pete. What type of connectors are required to hook autopilot to GPS? How spendy?

peter frederick
06-09-2003, 09:48 AM
All you need is a piece of wire to run from our compass to your GPS, Cost I would guess 5-$10.00, Dont forget to read the manual, you need to set North into your pilot.

Thanks Pete

Hello everyone,

I'm gonna take advantage of this June special pricing.

Are there four others interested in buying so we can get Peter to come visit the Portland area for the installations?

Pete,
I just took some pictures of my new TR-1 attached to the troller. Hope they turn out so I can send them to you. Trebor was great installing the unit and it worked fantastically! Can't wait to put it to work fishing. I love the idea of not needing someone at the steering wheel every second. Awesome! Bring on the fish!

Excellent everyone, this site has worked out great for TR-1 and our customers. I dont have to be the only one trying to convince everyone that our product is a must, alls an inquiring person needs to do is listen to what is being said by fellow fisherman. Yes it is not cheep, but once you run it the price is well justified.

Again thank you all!

Hey Peter- you guys just put a new TR-1 gold in my old boat (at Browns landing). The "antique" Tr-1 I had in it needed some work and the guy that bought it decided to just go for the gold after thinking about it. Another generation of happy trollers in the old Bayliner!

Say hi to Doug, he'll remember the big white pig of a 6,500 lb deep v full cabin boat. First boat of that size that a TR-1 was installed in back in '95! They were pretty excited abut it (and just maybe a little worried?)
