I just finished cleaning a limit of Gaper clams. To remove the skin from the neck is very time consuming by the scrape and tug method. Do any of you folks know a better way?
Thanks in advance.

Boil some water and dump it on the necks, let set for two or three minutes and then rinse with cool tap water. The skin then comes off easy.

OR, soak the necks overnite in freshwater. This causes the skin to blister and peel easily. Both methods will work. MMMMM, fried clam necks!

 Thanks Keta, that realllllly works. Got another limit yesterday, let them pump in corn meal water overnight and just finished cleaning them this morning.
Thanks for the trick.

Ok, dumb question time, but what do you mean pump with corn meal? Batter 'um up before cleaning?
