It appears that most of the people fishing for shad do so below 205. Is that because they pretty much stop there or are they headed farther up the Willamette? We're going to be at the falls today after springers and I was just wondering if it's possible to catch shad up that far?
Thx in advance!

They do catch shad up there and some folks, when the water isn't running high, will flyrod 'em.That sounds like fun.But with the lower water you must watch out for the prop!

Shad go up to the falls, but they don't pass the fish ladder. It can be very good below the falls, but spots are of a premium. That's why it's more popular below 205, there's more room to spread out.

The 'ladder' at Willamette Falls is actually a pipe. While shad won't hesitate to climb an open ladder, they won't go through a pipe so they're confined to the lower river.
