View Full Version : Ifish Synopsis, or Read the regs?

I see repeatedly people asking about fishing regulations here on ifish, where can/can't you fish the CR, can you keep jacks in the ocean, can you keep non clip fish in River XYZ, can fish barbs. Also happens on the hunting board.

I know there is a wealth of information here, but if it were ever incorrect, or you read it before the correct one was posted and went out to fish you might get nailed with a ticket.

I do read the regulations as many do on this board, however, there seems to be a lot of people that ask regulation related questions when they could be easily looked up. Is it just me that sees this trend to rely on ifish as the synopsis?

if I am at work, and don't have the regulations at hand, it is easier to ask here and get a quick response.

How about a fishing Reg. Thread. An up to date ODFW Regulation page. Than anyone could look up the water they want to fish and know what the rules are. Just a thought.

The paper version of the regs are free and I get several copies to stash in strategic locations.

Also if your at a computer you can always go to the ODFW WEBSITE (http://www.dfw.state.or.us/)

AND you can view all the regs HERE (http://www.dfw.state.or.us/ODFWhtml/Regulations/regs.html)

I would be afraid to go fishing on what you hear from hearsay.
Also, when I post something I believe to be in the regs, I always post a disclaimer, "Read your regs to be sure".
I'd hate to be responsible if I goofed up!

Please read your own regs! Someone honestly trying to help you may be off just a smidge, and you could get a ticket!

Gus since their isnt to much concern with you retaining a fish in closed water, or bag limits,... or bag limits for any water as far as that goes, Your concern should only be if fishing is allowed in the water you are drowning worms in. Keeps your reading down to just a couple pages of the regs :hoboy:

There is a link to both in the right hand column on the front page of ifish.
