Does anyone know if there are any summer steelies showing on the Santiam and if so where would a good place to start be....from eugene heard good things about the river, really would like to fish if there are any around...any imput would be appreciated...also if your interested, some summer fish are showing in the willamette, above eugene (dexter dam)....driftin seems to do the trick

I caught one March 1st, but they are still far and few between. They are just now trickling into the traps. I would think the lower you go the better.

Magic, they are there! Was out this weekend.....got one in the freezer to prove it. The south fork is running high and off color. The North is running at about 4 feet and has excellent visibility. Stay below stayton for now! Check out Bill Sanderson. He sends a mailing out that is very informative.

a guy from the fisheries said they had trapped a few. They had stopped trapping for a week or two because the water was so high, but he said they have about twenty in the trap so far... Looks like early june is gonna be a blast...

the summers are few and far beetween although there have been a few caught. the river is still too high for my liking so i would wait a little while. but if you want to fish the best drift i have heard of lately is going on the main santiam from jefferson to i-5
