Not sure how Rep. Nelson got a hold of this. Looks like a good way to get back on the side of sportsman.
Anyway, guess we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the link Waterdog!
Looks like people who are in favor of such a law should contact their legislators.

Well, we know it's coming so let's just get on with it. I am very interested in seeing the results in a year or so.

I myself will not like the idea of a shellfish licence. They will probably add it to our fishing licence and then when they have it in effect, they will shut down the season and keep the money.
Excuss me for being so mad, just heard they are going to shut down the Willamette now. All they want is our money, and not give us a season, just a tease of a season.

Fishchaser,
Mother nature determines if the shellfish are going to get the toxin not ODFW or WDFW. The agencies responsible for the safety of the shellfish harvesting public is the Department of Health in Washington and the Department of Agriculture in Oregon. Their job is to make sure the clams and crab are safe to eat. There is no way of predicting when or if the toxins are going to appear or how long they will last.
As far as the Willamette, instead of taking second had information (i.e. the Oregonian) call ODFW and get the real information.
