All I can say is INCREDIBLE. If this is the way things are going to go into April I am going to have to take a couple weeks off and be on the water every day.

I finally talked my wife, Kristel, and my two kids into going Salmon fishing with me today on a Spring Break Salmon Adventure.

Everyone actually got up at 4:30 as I wanted to catch as much as the morning tide as I could. You know how it goes though, my wife and kids drug their feet, had to get everyone to go to the bathroom 3X ect...

We finally made it to the launch at about 6:15 and got out to one of my spots. I had to get my wifes rod rigged up so I wrapped my Old Reliable Kwik and got it into the water. As I was rigging the other rod and explaining to my wife what a bite looked like a salmon decided to help me out by smaking my Kwik! Fish on I let my wife fight him in and good thing as there were bigger things to come for her today. This was a nice nate, as she does not know how to handle fish safely she took this quick pic of the fish

A great fight for her first Springer ever. It took two real hard runs and even jumped. She screamed and freaked the whole time. I just love that!

Now my wife really has the salmon fever. We get the poles back out and hers starts jumping a little. It was a Pike Minnow so my son got a turn because he wanted to reel the "babies" in...
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/14561985.jpg

Kristel is really into it now and watching her pole intently. I am thinking "Come on we will be lucky to get another fish" All of a sudden her rod straight flattens out and the drag is a rippin. Fish on. Another beauty of a nate that we got a quick pic of before he gave me a good face splashing
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/26511985.jpg
This is a real bad picture of this brute as I wanted to get him back in the water and did not want to take the time for a second pic. I am 6'3" and weigh 275lbs and in the pic the fish is turning his head to the side. This pig ripped it up! He was up and down the river, under and around the boat and my lovely bride set the hook and faught him all the way to the boat! Great Job! Most likely the biggest Springer I have ever had on my boat!

We get back on anchor and not 15 min later my rod flattens out again and the Fish Gods blessed us with theis 29lb fattie! My wife did a great job on the netting too! I love you honey!
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/34521985.jpg

Now my daughter was into it and drew this picture of all the fish we were catching...
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/33531985.jpg

We got on other drive by, this all happened in about 4 hours of fishing! My buddie Joe called and was going to come out with his wife so Kristel and the kids decided to go home when I went to pick them up at the dock.
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/03541985.jpg

I get Joe and his wife Mary out to my spot, of course I left my anchor. A couple of hours go by and sure enough Mary's rod starts bucking and she gets her first Springer ever a nice 17lb keeper
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/04531985.jpg

I had to call it quits early but what a day. Got my wife and Mary thier first spring salmon ever, went 4-5 and put two quality fish in the boat! We fished bait wrapped Kwiks in 13, 14 & 15 sizes.

Good luck if you go!

Those pictures are so much better than any picture of you or I. Those smiling face of special people in your life never compare to your best day fishing. I'm so happy you got your wife and kids into some great springer action. I can say he had a great day we were exchanging phone calls all day. We would call him sayin' just got one then it was shane sayin' they got one went on until he left the river..........Chris

ps Joe did you think the hair cut would change anything for you graemlins/stupid.gif

Great pics! And thanks for emphasizing carefully handling the nates - setting a good example there.

The pic of your daughter with her technicolor salmon drawing is one of the best I've ever seen on Ifish - a real keeper!

Thanks for sharing!

PS. would you mind sharing what depth they seemed to be running at?

5-cents,
You should let your little girl paint all your kwikfish, they would gaurentee you a limit everyday.
Good Job,

Can I get a good contact for a boat launch facility on the lower Columbia, one that features overnight parking and like amenities.

Excellent! graemlins/applause.gif graemlins/applause.gif graemlins/applause.gif

It takes so much more effort to get the crew involved, but you are doing the right thing. It sure paid off for you yesterday. There's not a better feeling a fisher can have than to put a throbbin' rod into family or friends hands  . Keep up the good work.

My daughter would fish with me every day if she could and she is always drawing fish. She is definately MY daughter graemlins/hearton.gif She will make some fisherman one happy guy someday... but not too soon graemlins/eek13.gif

We were fishing the Bachelor Island area. I have been fishing in 22'-10' of water. I keep moving about every hour until I find those lovely salmon!

Here is a serious hint, dont be afraid to try the skinny water... could really pay off!

I will be back out in that area tomorrow with my whole family again. If you see my boat stop by and say hi. I run a black and tan Alumaweld Mirage with Ifish stickers in both side windows!
