5-Cents

I decided to brave the netters today on the lower Columbia and met up with Fishing Is Life, James Wu at the ramp at 6 AM. First time fishing with James and he is a great guy and we had an awesome day up until the very end but I will save that for the end of the story graemlins/eek13.gif
We hit the water and got to my first top secret spot just as the tide was starting to run out. James noticed there was no one else fishing there and I had to tell him this is secret stuff. I think he had his doubts but on the first pass downstream trolling herring look what decided to call on James

This fish hit when we had been in the water less than 10 min. Trolled the run a couple more times and nothing so we dicided to anchor up. We switched depth a couple of times and not much happening.
Just about then I get a call from my good buddy Chris (FishnXTC) he says they are getting a few around where he is and we dicide to meet up with him. We end up dropping anchor next to a couple other Ifishers. Nice to meet you Sportser. They were just getting ready to head in and gave us some left over Beef Kabobs. Yum Thanks
20 Min later old FishnXTC anchors up next to us and starts talking a little smack. A while later James Wu, who should be called James Wu Hoo hooked up with another dandy fish. This one was missing the correct fin

This was a hard faught battle. The fish ran back from the boat about 5 times and even wound the line around the trolling motor. I had to jump out on the swim deck when James was fighting it to unwind.
Next it was my turn. The wind was really blowing and all of a sudden I had a huge pound down and nothing. Fish did not come back. We kept swining for a few minutes so I decided to start the trolling motor and put the TR-1 in reverse. After we straightned out I noticed my plug was not working any more. Keep in mind few minutes have passed. I pick up the rod to bounce the weight back. One bounce, two bounce, on the third bounce the rod flattens out and I set the hook. This 28lb nook was eating that plug for 5 minutes and all the hooks were burried

My biggest springer ever. This guy battled long and hard. At one point he started fighting us back up river. Great battle lasted about 5 minutes.
Mean while back at the ranch this rag tag group of anglers watched in awe of the salmon spanking show that 5-Cents and James Wu Hoo were putting on

That ended our day. The two keepers were caught on wrapped Kwikfish. Old reliable came through for me again. James I told you we would get fish at the bottom of the tide. Zaq you chose the wrong boat today
When I got to GI Joes to get my Shimano Bucks I realized that James Wu Hoo had taken my 29lb biggest springer of my life and put it in the trunk of his BMW and left me with his 22lb fish. graemlins/berry.gif
You owe me brother!
