Yes sir they are in the rivers thick now. Fished bonneville yesterday and the bite was off. Not only because of the weather. You would think that some division of some game department would have to eventually put some kind of cap on the population for saving the salmon. Yea I know they gotta eat to but when is enough going to be to much for the fish.
I saw at least two pods of 4-5 at Bradford. Later in the day moved down to Warrendale and spotted another pod of 4.
Just how will the fish survive this?

This is a topic which reall chaps my hide. Nature will take it's course, I am afraid, only when the last fish is consumed. :depressed:

Down here we seem to have a pretty concentrated populations of "good ol boys" living on the rivers and seem to keep the predators at bay from time to time. A couple of times I've been fishing the lower river and noticed a few hunks of future crab bait float by with lead poisoning. I'm on the fence whether it was right or wrong mostly I don't really care, but I sure wish a few of those Orcas in the Hood Canal would pay us a visit and take care of the problem naturally.

Can we have the Native Americans state that it is there traditional rights and the seals are endangering there fish....... Then maybe they could have a open season on the critters. Heck I would even pay for there gas to do so, it is getting out of control out there.
I am sure there is no way we will ever get to harvest them, though I hear they make good crab bait....
I lost a fish to a lion on Tuesday at the mouth of the Lewis, we had it 5' from the boat and then out of nowhere wham we had a really big one on until the line broke. I was hoping to atleast get the head back so I could get my Kwickfish back but no luck.

I too lost a sprnger to a seal anchored at the mouth of the Lewis. The seal took the lure too, but got rid of it and it floated up out at the green line. One of the guys trolling was nice enough to bring it back.
Man, it is hard to thumb 30-pound line down enough to break it!

Fished 205 from 6:00AM to 6:30PM. It was an all weather day, with the west wind really picking up at sundown! We saw a half dozen boats drop out and were happy to have a 21#er to take home with us. It's been all native nooks to the boat for us up until yesterday. We enjoyed sharing the water with Jet and had an all around great time on the water.
Seals were with us every hour or so all day. Saw one take a nook on our port side.

I have often thought it would be cool to cut plug a salmon and troll it for seals.... just a thought
We had seals working all around us on Friday and Saturday and we got fish. Now if the seals are working the fish ladder at Bonnie then we have a problem, call the Orca Man

They are everywhere! There are also large pods of sealions everywhere! It used to be a novelty to point out a seal up river from time to time, but now they are constantly around. There are several bunches of sea lions in the Columbia City area that have become permanent residents.
....starting to feel like Gold Beach around here.

I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A SEAL DAY, JUST SET OUT FOR THE SEALS, MAKE A NICE SALMON DINNER ON THE BANK, AND MAKE SURE THERE COMFORTABLE.
PUT SOME DRUG IN THE SALMON THAT WILL PUT THEM TO SLEEP AND THEY HAVE A BAD DREAM OF SALMON
ATTACKING THEM AND TAKING ONE BITE OUT OF THEM
AND THROWING THEM BACK!!!!
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS, PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM.
