I would like to mention here that after fishing in their derby for at least the last 8 yrs., this one was by far the most organized and ultimately the most fun. The banquet facilities were just great, a sound system that actually could be heard, the food (Tony Romas') was the best we have had, and not too mention all the freebies (door-prizes they gave away. This is about helping out a fishery that these days is taking a terrible amount of pressure and what they are doing to help raise money so that we can continue to enjoy this, is outstsanding. Way to go Fishermans'.

Since you have been in the derby for some time I would like to know if you think that the results of the sturgeon derby this year had a normal harvest rate or if the catch was below normal?

I think that the catch ratios are down from previous years from what I could tell. But when I started this derby, it was the only major one. Now GI Joes has one as well and I know there are other smaller ones as well. The pressure seems to be getting greater on this fishery all the time. So with that in mind, I guess it could be possible, the catch rates are down. I do know this. The number of larger keeper fish caught is deffinately less.
