Just courious about what has been happening below the dam. Saw several post last week talking about how good the bankies were doing. I am planning on going out this Wed and Thurs, but am just courious if I should head up river or go down below. Where is this Goat Island??

the bite has slowed with the rain and higher cfs flows. you might just have to employ highwater, highflow techniques. just talked to Fear No Fish and he said 2 out of 35 boats had got one today.

were people fishing above or below the arm at tanner creek, or all lined up, elbow to elbow on both sides?

Snowball, most of the bankies have been on the Wa side up above the deadline or down below the big oak tree.

I was out today at 1st light, just below bonn. Weather was crummy in the a.m. but turn around in the p.m. Fishing was slow. I saw 2 fish landed and 2 long line released. All these fish were hooked back trolling kwickfish with a diver. By the way I went home empty handed.

Everyone, including the bank folks on Hamilton Island will very much appreciate that you did.

Don't forget "Ives Island." Shad is not the only thing caught there, believe me. Three or four lines down there. Stay in the lines, it's not shad fishing yet, and again, everyone will catch fish and be happy. Leave a boat width or two between yourselves either side of your boats. Much better deal for a peaceful day of fishing.

Yeah heard from a couple back trollers who hooked up six times and kept three last weekend, that they managed to hook another nate this weekend, which offers the question, why am I not up there?

******, i thought Snowball was looking for bank spots not boat spots.

****** is right about not anchoring below the tree. he is also right about the area south of south of Ives Is. aka "shad rack". the guys on anchor there have done better than the backtrollers the last two times i have been up there this year from what i observed. this would be a good place to run those Eric's prawn rigs or just make your own.

Not that I need your concurrance on anything James, or should anyone assume I am not giving good advice unless you say so, since this has been my home water for many, many years, but thanks for your support.

Snowball - Hamilton Island is a great bank spot. Just don't pound the rod holders in right behind or cast right behind and across the line at the Oak Tree. Tangled lines and lost fish for everyone. Bunch of broken pilings to snag and lose your fish right on the point at the Oak Tree from the bank anyway. Fishing is good all the way down to the lower end of Hamilton Island.

A few simple things and common courtesy, or lack there of, make it great or miserable for everyone.

Everyone be safe up there, especially when the water starts to rip.

James "peace, love, happiness, and fishing"

Did FNF teach you that? Steve.... Steve.....Steve. graemlins/hearton.gif Hope your back is holding up.

Pascado on,

Just looking at your recent posts and you have been asking a lot of questions with little reports?

What gives, word around the campfire says that you don't even fish and just rely upon fellow "ifishers" to live vicariously through. In fact the rumor goes as far to say that your boat you have listed in your profile is actually 1/10 the size and came from McDonalds in a Joy-Meal, I mean Happy-Meal.

JUST KIDDING!!!

I would start lower in the river this time of year, I did see one heck of a bite happen for the bankies last week below the Oak-Tree hole, 25 anglers and at least 20 fish banked, in 45 minutes! But then not another fish caught for the next 5 hours??

I have heard of some promising reports in the lower river, give me a call tomorrow and I will tell you where Goat Island is.

Good luck Brian,
Andy

Thanx for the info everyone, and thanx for the post Andy! I have noticed that it is difficult to get inside those happy meal toys. It doesn't seem that the chocholate river will be letting up soon, I'm sure that fouls things up near St. Helens? graemlins/berry.gif Well, I guess it is up river for me.

Pescado, i would not discount St helens, just look at BignBrights post fishin with Fishnxtc. with the flows up the next few days at bonnie the colored water downriver may not be too bad. good luck and give us a report.

******/ Rick , just agreeing with you, didnt mean to bug ya.

Yeah peace love and happiness to all. but sometimes you have to fight to achieve peace too. Steve didnt teach me that we just share similar interests. He has taught me alot about fishing though.

This morning off the bank WA side right below the dam. 55+ guys 4 fish at 11:00. I would say it has slowed down or atleast there are a whole lot more people for no more fish.

Pescado, i am no expert by any means. if you are in a boat launch at the ramp at st helens. on ifish home page there is a "ramps online" link. just look for the boats. spend some time scouting water. if you are worried about gettin in the hoglines just go find some other water. just be observant on what line the fish are running. i have not been down there this year but i like the wa side. you might have to go shallower with the color but just keep an eye out for fish on. from 12-22 ft is a good range. run kwikies, prawns/spinner with spreader/dropper on the outgoing. if you are banking it i am green on the columbia.

hey ******, that was a good one. peace.
