I have a 9.5 ft camper for my truck and am looking to tow my new boat as well. I have an extender for my hitch, but I would like to have a more heavy duty extender hitch made because of the boats weight. Is there anyone in the Hillsboro area you would recommend???

Thanks,

Rip, you might explore the idea of adding to your trailer tounge reather than extending your hitch. I had 2' added to the tounge of my trailer and had it rebalanced for about $200. The class 4 hitch I was looking at was about $500.

Anaway just a thought.

what kind of truck? what kind of hitch? how big of a boat? with a 9.5 foot camper you should be using class v hicth that is rated at least 1200 to 12000 and do you plan on using head and bars.let me know and i will try and help.

Rip,

I looked at the Reese Titan system, only one tube without side supports. Went with Torque Lifts Super Hitch. Made in Washington, they have a web site. More money, better support w/ compression tube and chains w/ turn buckles on each side for side to side stabilty.
I have a 10" camper and 21' inboard sled. Gross weight for the boat and trailer is about 5k and I do not use weight distribution bars. The 28" extension is flush w/ the camper bumper when the stinger is not in place, can still use the camper steps w/out removing the extension.
Just my experiences, hope this helps.

I have an F-350 Crew Cab with the Powerstroke diesel. I have airbags installed for the camper, I have the normal tow package which should easily handle my #3000 boat, just want to make sure I don't put my new boat in jeopardy....

Thanks,

Another vote for the torq lift system. You should be able to get it any where they sell campers to include Campers World. I agree they may be a little pricey but probably the best system out there for towing with a camper.

hey rip'n'lips you can not tow with the stock receiver you have to up grade to class v or to the torque system but you do not want to tow with the stock receiver it is not strong enough. Ive seen to many receivers bend.

A friend of mine went with the Torque Lift and loves it. I have looked it over and am quite impressed myself. I don't think you will go wrong with it. A little pricey but worth it.

A good class IV or V receiver would be more than enough for a 24-30" extension and 3000#...Check with Curtis Trailers on 219th & TV highway. They'll do the hitch and make the extension the exact size you need. They also have the Torklift.
