I would like to extent a hearty thank you to Fastwater and Norm's Gone fishing too for showing up and helping with the NFL clean-up effort. Like Fastwater already said we recruted a fellow fisherman named "Cheech" to wade into the putrifided smelt goo. He was a great help and good company too. I feel we could've done more, had we more people envolved. I guess 3 out of 12 people aint bad. It's times like these, that brings out true character. I guess I understand why everyone else didn't show. I mean after all, it was no picnic. It down-right SUCKED! But, I'd willingly do it again. I'm doing my best not to jump to conclusions and be disappointed. We DID pickup something like 8 or 9 bags of garbage from the hatchery area and another 6 or 7 bags from behind "The used to be zipperlip" Texaco. Poor Fastwater almost barfed due to the yummy stuff we encountered. My personal favorite was the gigantic dog poop (stepped in, thank you very much) and the gel-filled diapers. Ah yes....... Good times. See fellas, THIS is the fun stuff you missed out on. I don't even think I'll mention the 2 dozen doughnuts I brought (hand-picked mind you). I guess that's volunteer work for ya. Thanks again.

Yeah, I didn't know that diapers did that. Must be part of the bio process engineered into them.
Worst of all were the ZipLok bags of fish that have been "cooking" for the past "however many" months.

Lets plan for an April 5th clean up day. Hopefully it will be a better day and we will have lots of people.

Geez, I don't know.... What's the weather looking like? I don't want to get wet....Maybe someone will want to take me fishing that day.
Yeah, I'll go if the springers aren't biting then.
Maybe I'll hold off until some better offers come my way. Geez, I still don't know :hoboy: May be I could start some smack talk about who can pick up th most garbage and then not even show up. Just joking Fastwater. graemlins/stupid.gif  I think that's a great idea. Time and place? Other ares of concern? Anyone else going to be there? Stand up and be counted! I forgot to mention your employment of the handy little rake for getting trash out of the briars.Small garden rake with curved tines. It worked great. The guys at Fisherman's Depot said we might have better successif we advertise/post it on lewisriver.com. He said there would be more local people that could be envolved.
Thanks again.

Ragnar,
Yeah, we will post on both sites as a rain or shine event. I would like to aim for two groups of 8. One to work each side of the river.
We can do the donut thing again and I'll bring the bags.
April 5th at Fishermen's Depot at 9:00 am.
Donuts till 9:30.
If we can get enough people we will make quick work of the trash and have time for fishing.
