Well after having praticed the Chinese fire drill yesterday it work in our favor today. Those kwik fish seem to have a mind of their own when they are flying around the boat. Started off the day on the river one of my best friends Steve Satre gets one of the most powerful take downs and the fish decided that kwikfish wasn't that tasty after all. Little while later fish hit and I'm telling my buddy wait, wait, wait ok take it. FISHON get all the rods out of the water ready to release and you guessed right another springer that fiqured kwikfish wasn't for him either. Had a couple of other short bitter after that. Well being as I never seem to leave the river I'm a little tried by the late afternoon and everyone else is takin' a little snooze I'll join. Yep ruined my nap 5 cent was anchored next to us and started yell ROD, FISH, HEY and maybe some other words that are not supposed to written here. Get all the rod in again release the anchor. Out of no were a loose kwikfish found a new home in my crotch. Now I'm stand there with a kwikfish danging from my rain pants probably just waiting to stick to something else. Ripped the kwikfish out of my rain gear and proceeded to net this Bad Boy http://www.ifish.net/uploads/01101863.jpg 26# hatchery needless to say Chromer. Great day on the river just wish we could have gotten those others. I feel blessed because we were the only boat in the line today to have strikes or fish. Bring the good student that I am I'm learning some new water that I've always wanted to learn will report back tomorrow....................Chris
PS. BNB thanks for the Avatar and 5 cent for the pic.

It was slow on my boat today and for that matter for everyone else within eyesight too except for you know who....
The guy in the picture with XTC had 6 take downs! After missing his first 4 I was looking over and noticed that nook taking a taste of his plug... another taste... hmmmm no one is moving on Chris' boat... another taste... hey are those guys asleep or playing patty cakes... rod burries! I guess I spoiled those sweet dreams yelling at them but look at what they got!
Like I said for everyone else, dead, dead, dead. Did I mention it was dead out there? For the 20 or so boats in sight I did not see anyone else drop off or hear any signs of a happy angler except for XTC!
Great fishing next to you guys Chris and nice fish
One last thing Chris, I guess that was a Kwikfish in your pants or were you really excited to catch a fish

So whereabouts have you been doing all this damage. Congratulations, but also thanks for leaving a few for the rest of us lol. Sounds like you got pretty lucky all things considered. See, if you had been fishing naked, you might just have caught the big one. TOC

Nice fish guys!!!! I was anchored right above you, actually motered thru that spot past 5-cents but chose to anchor where I did. Over all it was a slow day, I believe you touched the only fish in the area that day. Good Job.

Quickie hooks out of the package are not necessicarily that sharp. Almost always they can be touched up for significantly better results.
Right out of the pack, try hanging the lure off of your thumbnail. If it slips off it is due for improvement. My experience is fewer than one or maybe two points are ever sharp enough to "stick".
Try a few light strokes on three sides of a point. Hang it again. If it sticks and is really sharp you can even start tilting your thumb downward and the lure will continue to hang. Then you are ready to catch fish.
However, beware that such sharpness will result in solid penetration no matter where it gets attached!

I'm curious. How do you practice a "Chinese fire drill"? I've never done it and you would think my grandfather would have explained it to me!

Nuttinbutnet:
" Aside from being a synonym for "extreme confusion," incidentally, "Chinese fire drill" is also the popular name for a prank long-beloved of college students, wherein 4 or 5 of the little matriculators stop their car at a red light, jump out, run around the car and then hop back in, the point (such as it is) being to complete the procedure before the light changes to green."
Hook two chinooks at once, and you WILL be having a Chinese Fire Drill ...

dampainter,
It is an Olympus camera, here is their site (http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_product_lobbypage.asp?l=1&p=16&bc=2&product=869) .
My wife has one and so do I. They take excellent pictures and you dont need special software to download. We print all our pictures at home so a high pixel count is a must.

So cool when you get on an "on fire" streak, especially this early. I'd come "lowhole" ya' if I could get off work at all. Just kidding. That was for C&E's benefit.
 for now.
