I just worked for a long time, trying to delete all but the last two months of pictures.
It breaks my heart to delete these pictures, guys, but I just can't afford to house all of them, forever.
I tried my very best not to delete the avatars.

This could all be resolved by finding out, from your host, where your space is, to upload pictures.
If you are interested, I could write a tutorial on how you can have your own area to upload pictures. Every e mail account that I know of, comes with some kind of free internet space.

It's just hard to delete eggscar pics, and the elk in the ocean, and your hard won battles with fish.

You know, then you go to a post in the archives, and the big red x shows up, where your trophy fish should be.

If you only uploaded to a permanent spot, our archives could be complete for all to view!

Anyone interested? First go to your web page host's home, and look for information on your free space. It usually is an address like this.
Say, you are salmon@seasurf.net.

I would type in http://www.seasurf.com/~salmon/ in my browser. YIP! SURE ENOUGH! There is Jennie's free space!

Now, how to get to it? That's where you call your provider and ask!

I can help. You'll need an FTP transfer utility. I use WSFTP, and you can download it at many different download sites.

You'll need to know the user name and password to that account.

Please, try to upload important pictures to a permanent location so that we can save our memories on ifish!

I'm sorry if I missed a couple of avatars. I tried not to. If you do post an avatar on ifish, make sure to mark it well, so that it reduces the chance that I'll hit delete!

Jen

Jennie - unfortunately you did delete my avatar - but at least I still have it on my PC. I belong to a forum where many, many photos are posted and the forum itself does not host the pics. We have to have our own webspace for pics and it works fine. Are you saying this is possible now on ifish? If so, how?

EDIT: OK - I managed to link my avatar to my own webpage and the avatar shows up in my ifish profile, but it's not showing up on posts in the message board.

2nd Edit: Nevermind

The three best ways to make sure that Jennie doesn't delete your avatar are as follows:

1) Make sure that the Avatar is Avatar-sized, and not a full-sized image that is being risized down by the forum software. There are STILL guys here doing that, and it takes a long time for the modem folks to download them and it costs Jennie money to keep sending that large picture down the Internet pipes...down the Internet pipes...down the Internet pipes...down the Internet pipes...

2) Name it something like avatar.jpg. Make it obvious.

3) Email it to Jennie and she'll park it someplace permanent.

Fishing Geek, what's the story behind your avatar? It's interesting to say the least.

It's what happens when someone forgets to replace the filter in the gene pool.

I guess my Mom forgot to replace the filter, and I ended up with Marfan Syndrome.
Glad I don't look like that, though!

Or do I?

I hope no one expects you to store all of our graphics forever, they take up a huge amount of space.

Thank you    Jennie.

I can take digital photos and I can scan existing photos and email them, no problem. But I have yet to figure out how to post pics on Ifish, and in fact have given up trying, so whatever it is you're talking about Jennie, it probably doesn't apply to me graemlins/dork.gif .
