so, do you leave it in the fully down position in the mount so that the prop points down into the water or do you set it up so that it sits vertical and the prop points horizontal? i already know the value of the dollfin and plan to get one. i'm wondering at what angle i should set the motor up.
i'm getting an 8hp for my drifter. it needs a little work but should be well worth the money. would anyone like to join me in a happy dance?

Experiment. Normally, you would have it as far forward as possible, but different boats behave differently

My 8 hp LS works well all the way down with the bracket bar at halfway Dolfin is on and my boat rides perfectly. I went through trial and error.

P. S. I drilled a hole in my dolfin and attached my transducer under it. ran the cable up the shaft and NO more clamping on the side of my boat....

I will run mine vertical or one notch back toward the stern depending on expected water depths or different load conditions. also get the Mac's River Runner, has saved me a few times and do not lock the motor into position so that it can tilt if you hit something!
Hey fire, that is a great idea, I have been using the suction cup! does the prop turbulence interfer at all?

No haven't seen any problems as of yet. I like it cause I know what the depth is under my prop.
I have been waiting to get one of those prop guards.
