I want to put some Tuf Line on my bobber and jig 10' spinning setup. Does spectra lines cast as well as mono of similar diameter?

It seems like there would be more friction with the spectra line and thus reduce the casting distance.

power pro or xp tufline will outcast mono lb test vs lb test. the smaller diameter of the spectras will help you cast longer.

And the lack of memory (total limpness) of the line reduces friction as it comes off the spool hits the first guide. Spectra lines deifinitely cast farther - not even a contest.

My question was for the lines of SIMILAR diameter, not the # test rating.

when i loaded my lil trout rod up with 30lb spectra it increased the casting distance by a long shot!

Kilgore,

You asked "My question was for the lines of SIMILAR diameter, not the # test rating." I have to say that YES braided lines will out cast mono. I have used both Spiderwire and Power Pro on spinning reels. I know that I can toss a #5 spinner a lot farther with braid than momo. I get really good distance with a #5 Blue Fox and 30# Power Pro, using a 8' 6" spinning rod.

Kilgore, I've had good luck with Fireline. Good luck... Salmurai
