Henry Miller Came out with his Salmon River meeting article today in the Statesman Journal
http://news.statesmanjournal.com/article.cfm?i=57435

Good article with some good points that I missed.
Don't be concerned about the releasing of wild Chinook, that was an error.

is to maintain the fishing opportunity while protecting native chinook, which must be released un-harmed by anglers, and to cut down on the illegal activity.

I wont fish that river just for those stated reasons. It is a zoo and is primarily a snagging/lining fest, I have seen it many times. They need to do something about that river before it gets closed to angling. It used to be a quiet peaceful river to fish but it has been ruined.

I agree with you John. I didn't fish it once last year. I have more fun fishing Washington coho's where some of times there are plenty fish and no fisherman around. They have there share of problems also though.

They are attempting to do something about it and trying to figure the best means.

Got any suggestions?

I like the circle hooks idea, it isnt a regulatory issue in my mind , It is a public perception issue. The people need to do the right thing, Not join in to the spoilage. Look at how many people now fish with divers in Feb-april when wild fish are present.......not that many. If the public fishing community would put more pressure on the ignorant people there would be less illegal/immoral activity. If it becomes a frowned upon activity then less people will do it........Not all will be fixed ever but any improvement is a plus.
