Hello All, Just wanted to tell you about this morning, I went to my favorite small mouth bass spot on the willamette it's in canby behind the golf course. I tied my knock'em dead every time rig on and low and behold about my 3rd cast i hooked up. The biggest bass i have ever caught. What's funny is it looks just like a 7# steelehead. It was rather interesting fighting this fish with 6# line and an ultralight rod. I think when i go hunting springers i load for trout HAHAHA.

Not uncommon at all to catch Springers on the Willamette with bass bugs, seen it done many times. First time I've seen or heard of a steelhead caught that way but it looks like it happens, good deal!
This reminds me of a story related to me of an aquaintance who bought a guided smallmouth trip on the John Day years ago. He was irritated that the pesky steelhead kept smacking his bass stuff. All in all he caught 3 or 4 bass and 12 steelhead that day, dunno about the rest of you but I sure wouldn't complain!!!

Great story,

You seem like the kind of fisherman who is blessed with a record of cool accidentals.

Wasn't it you that caught the salmon on the Gummii worm?

Too cool.
