Boat's in the shop, the river won't clear for a couple days, I've got the fever bad ... so what do I need to do?

check all those hook points for sharpness. touch up any that don't draw blood.

assemble all of your snacks and beverages. you won't have time to hit the store because you'll be too busy cleaning and packing all those salmon.

reorganize your tackle box. consolidate all those small packages of this and that.

Wash your kwikfish with lemon joy.

Make sure you have sufficient number of pyramid sinkers in the necessary weights for the area you fish.

Make sure you have a couple rolls of stretchie thread to wrap the kwikfish.

Be sure you have enough barrel and snap swivels.

Make sure you have a fresh spool of your prefered leader material.

Start soaking in your tub nightly in a bath of equal parts WD-40 and Marie's Shrimp scent. Shampoo with a herring puree. Rinse with Ammerman cure in Bright Orange.

Did you pack your surgical gloves?

Add some mike's sardine oil to your 2-stroke oil giving it a nice 50:1 sardine oil mixture

make sure your boat has plenty of neosporin on board for disinfecting cuts caused by owner hooks.

put velcro on the bottom of the cribbage board so it doesn't get upset in the mayhem of a take down.

Make sure somebody hasn't painted a Sea Lion on the bottom of your boat :depressed:

Fill the propane bottle

Post some disinformation on herring sizes so there will actually be PURPLE sized herring  when you get to the store freezer

Get your lawn work done NOW.

Provide some peer encouragement to BOE that he might catch a springer...next year.

Anchor rope tips are not helpful, thanks. I'm a troller.

Fresh plugs in your kicker (don't forget to set the gap correctly)

Make sure you meet "inspection" requirements.

Lose your net...so you'll be guaranteed to hook fish when you don't have it on board.

Check raingear for leaks...have someone soak you with the hose.

Brush up on springer "tips".

Arrange for a few nice mini vacations out of town for the wife in the best springer gettin time that coincide with your fishing calendar, unless she likes to fish as much as you do then forget what I said.

How about "study a new technique" so you don't have to be a troller all your life? We got about 400lbs of springer last year.....none of it while under power!

Study the archives!!!

I'm taking the weekend off to study old posts by BOE's springer seasons...

I can use this information to try really hard not to do anything he tried.

While I am out springer fishing today, I can see you ladies and gentlemen (you to Jen  ) are making fun of me. And to that I say graemlins/berry.gif graemlins/berry.gif

We sat along side of Sand Island today with poor results, so maybe you are on to something  ODFW on the water fish checker said they had come from Longview and not a springer in a boat today anywhere :depressed: Maybe I will wait another couple weeks :hoboy:

Pete - if the anchor is out of the boat, you are not fishing. Real fishermen keep their anchors up longer
