Has anybody been fishing the jetty at Baview lately? It looks like good tides tomorrow night and I was thinking about a little road trip.

15-16 foot seas are forecasted for the North Coast. Typically, you can some pretty nasty swells all the way to Lysters in conditions like that. Just be careful and watch for sneaker waves.

Stay back well behind the north tip as it has been getting quite a pounding.

I fished the Newport south jetty last weekend. Friday night we went for a night fish(8pm.),and finally scored. We hit the tide just right, and were catching 1-2lb bass of every color. I got them to hit the best on a 3'' rubber bass worm. I used a slinkey and 15'' leader. I think its called a carolina rig. First time I ever scored off the jetty in the dark. Cool huh?

Stick Flicker,

Yeah, it's really fun when you get into 'em at night like that. Fishin' the jetty at night is a whole different experience, isn't it? Did you use a lantern to draw 'em in?

Glad you had fun.

Crabbed down at T-Bay today. Occasional big swells were breaking in past the Coast Guard tower. I would not be fishing the jetty at night with seas like that.

The wife and I took Slow Roll and his better half down for a day of crabbing. Were a bit worried about all the rain and fresh water hitting the bay. Did manage to get 33 keepers. Had to work for them though.

Should make a great crab feed tomorrow. My brother-in-law (and his family) is coming into town tomorrow and will be in OHSU for a month receiving a stem cell transplant for his bone cancer. This will be his last non-hospital meal for quite some time. I think he'll like it.

I would like to extend my best wishes for a successful surgery and that his transplant takes. I am sure he will really enjoy the crab.
