It is interesting to me the difference in opinion that I get from this board. I read over a thread the other day about how few young people that you see on the river. I believe that the objective was to bring attention to the idea that eventually our fishing heritage will run out as the generations of fisherman turn to MTV and night cluds or some other recreation....

On the other hand I just recieved a harsh, maybe rather blunt email from an individual about posting the location of a single fish that I caught. I was not even posting a report. Another ifisher thought that he had seen me land the fish and I devulged my location to see if we could place each others faces. Needless to say an undeserved tounge lashing.

So my question is... is there really a problem with the number of fisherman dwendilling, is it in fact dwendilling and should we be concerned about telling inexperienced folks where they may catch a fish, ya never know the whole neighborhood might be out there tomorrow. This whole issue of not posting reports versus the eleged decline in fisherman seems contradictory to me.

PS is it common to recieve critical emails from individuals, if it is I will remove my adress from the site.

I think sharing general areas or information about a well known fishing area is great but you should consider giving away specifics on zipperlip areas. Otherwise we will create the Fishing & Hunting News effect. You know an article is written about an area and the next day a bunch of doughballs with magazine in hand are out their "fishing".

That is to bad you had a bad email exchange with an ifisher. I would hope you would consider not taking your email off because that is how a lot of people share zipperlip information with someone who seems geniune.

I would like to receive copies of anyone sending nasty e mails through ifish.
You don't have to show your e mail, if you are concerned. You know, there are thousands of people who have access to ifish that are not members. If your e mail is shown, they can e mail you too.
Please hit the PROFILE button above, then view edit profile, and change your e mail options if you are worried about non members e mailing you.
Thank you,
Jen

That's really unfortunate that someone feels that Cedar creek on the sandy is a zipper...what a moron!

By the way I saw a few fish caught there last week and hopefully this week also. Pink worms green corkies and all around the island below the creek, oh yeah don't forget to throw spinners and spoons upstream of the creek. For sure not a brass and fire red #3 blue fox!!!!!

Oh yeah I forgot everyone go fish the siletz!!!!!!!!!!!

MH

P.S. dan(ger) I was in the white hat I probably saw you, way to go on your sandy river cedar creek fish!!!!

Has there been a documented case of massive amounts of people crowding a hole a river when someone posts a hot report?? (without just normal weekend warriors)

The only one I can remember is Frenchmans Bar last fall.

I am sorry to hear that some people think that anywhere on the Sandy is Zipperlip material.

Good luck,
Andy

Its really sad that people sending these types of e-mails and telling people to shut up is actually running people out of this site and keeping people from joining and becoming members.

IMHO the people doing this and sending these e-mails are the ones that dont belong on a site like this.

The only thing I can say is dont let it bother you. Some people just cant come to grips that the sport is growing and there are more people on the rivers now after the same fish they are.

Simmilar thread as another that I read.

I have often wondered why people think that they have special rights to certian fishing areas.

I know that some have worked very hard to find their special fishing hole, but give me a break.

Sending a nasty email to someone? Sounds like my children fighting in the car over, he touched me, no she touched me. He's fishing in my spot on the bank, no she is fishing in my normal anchoring position.

Just like I tell my kids, what happens when water is on the back of a duck? Just let it roll off.

Part of what makes this forum so great is the information shared on the posts. So I guess that you have to take the good with the bad just like life and go on.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">I don't think you can blame Frenchman's Bar on ifish. It was crowded before last fall. Same as Kalama, St. Helens, and the Government Island area. Sure, there are some stalkers out there, but most of them are fishing that particular area anyway.

I think some of the people would scream if you posted a positive report on Buoy 10. Oops! I just gave away another zipperlip.

Here are some of the many rivers that we should not mention on ifish.

Tillamook Bay, The Wilson, The Kilchis, The Trask, The Nestucca, The Nehalem, The Necanicum, Youngs Bay, The Columbia River and the Oregon and Washington tributaries of the lower Columbia estuaries.

OK, proceed!

Over the past 2+ years I have been on this sight I have yet to recieve one negative email.

That is just bad form.

Fishing is just a little slow right now and the fustration factor is high. Seems like this always happens during the down time.

Just don't forget all the good thingsIfish has done as far as pulling many of us together to form a stronger political voice.

I had never (until I found this sight), attended any ODFW meetings, sent emails to congressman/representatives, had personal phone discussions with my elected officials over hatcheries.

I truly feel this sight has made me a better angler and certainly a more involved one.

Three cheers to Ifish

As for too many fishermen and trying to protect "your spot": I have seen Buz Ramsey walk up to a line of shoulder-to-shoulder fishermen (who are fishing, but not catching), ask if they mind if he makes a few casts, pull a couple of fish in short order, hand out some gear and move on.

My point is, good fishermen will catch fish regardless of the pressure. Makes me wonder if people who are so paranoid about fishing spots have much fish catching skill.

Hey thanks a lot to all of you guys who lended me your support and relayed your opinions. I really enjoy ifish and I will not let one jerk run me out. I will continue to be as specific with my reports as I wish and I hope you all do the same. Thanks again to Jennie and all of you who help keep this site up and running.
