I dont have any fancy story to tell, but heres how Sundays Sturgeon fishing went. Put in at Chinook Landing about 7am went up to the power lines, first boat in the area.

About 5 minutes after throwing the lines in came the first shaker. There where three of us onboard. One rookie Sturgeon fisherman with a new Ugly Stik 2202 with a Penn 321 gti that we need to get the stink off of.

And that we did. By the end of the day we had brought 53 shackers to the boat. Biggest one was 41 inches. No keepers.

Weather was nasty off and on. Fresh Smelt seemed like the ticket. I had taken 2 dozen (Sandy River Smelt) and one of the guys brough another two dozen (Cowlitz River Smelt), we where out of bait by 10:30 am. Call the wife from the boat and asked her to bring down another 3 dozen and some squid that I had in the freezer, It work well by itself as well.

Must have been about 30 boats out there at its peak, only heard a couple of yahoooos out there.

Considered going back out Monday, but wanted to get up to the Lewis to get some of that Lewis River smelt. Brought home 40 lbs.

Whats been kind of fun, Back on opening day on the Columbia November 23rd I began my own little derby. For every shaker you caught (on my boat) you would have to pitch in 25 cents. The person who catches the biggest keeper by March 1st gets the pot. So far the biggest is 48 inches and there is $61.75 in the pot. Thats 247 shackers, in that time only 5 keepers have been caught, What am I doing wrong? Dont answer that.

Looking forward to Springer fish'in, looks like its going to be a great year.

I will also look forward to reading the board. A lot of good info here and a lot of good BS.

Keep the lines tight,

John

I like the 'pool' idea. Great intro, welcome to the board.

If I called my wife for bait there would be hysterical laughing, followed by a dial tone.
