Me and Ketchumfast and a budy of his went out today and tried a little bit down stream from K-P and all we could get into the boat were 5 shakers . Then we went down to the mouth of the Willamatte and caught one more shaker. The biggest one that we caught was 38 inches.
At about 1:00pm we saw this boat graemlins/1zhelp.gif that was that was drifting down the Columbia without power, so we pulled anchor and went and helped them we got to them just in time as a tug pushing a barge was coming right at them. We towed them back to St.Johns boat ramp. They were really thankful for our help. After all that we got back to fishing around 3pm and didn't get another bite. But we fell really good about what we did because we would want somebody to help us out if we got in that predictiment.

Way to go Outfishim! Helping someone in need is commendable. You should feel good about your unselfish act of recovery. graemlins/applause.gif
Sorry for your fishing luck. We fished Sunday in the same area with maybe 30 shakers to the boat. Last year at this time the bite was red hot. Whassup????

Three of us fished north of T6 on monday and caught fish after fish all during the out going tide. Only one was a keeper. lots of fat 35" and longer with smelt filled bellies. Saw 2 gillnet boats below KP. One was soakin' his net when we were heading up from the St. Helen's area in the AM. Don't have a clue how they did! graemlins/berry.gif

Good job helping out. I think it is all boaters responsibility to aid and assist in event of emergency......and that sounded like the definition.

As an aside - of the 4 keepers cleaned late last week not a one had a single smelt in the belly............musta been really hungry......hmmm....wonder if that's why we got them in the boat?

outfishem,

Good job on the help to the fellow boaters!

Over the years I have towed folks 4 or 5 times and been towed in once. I always figure that what you do today will come back to you at some point in the future, so you scored some good points!
