For all you Eastside fishermen, what CFS do you prefer when you fish the Grande Ronde. I have fished it a lot when it is in the 900- 1500cfs range but I haven't fished it when it is more than that. Fish should be in the river. Any comments would be appreciated.

Ideally? Probably 2500-3000 after it crested 4-5 days before that. It takes several days to clean up after a blow out. 4-5 days will normally get it back to a nice steely green, with 2-3 feet of vis.. Gotta be careful this time of year with the rain, though. Even if the river doesn't rise significantly, the little feeder streams coming off of the side canyons will blow the color of the river all by themselves.
At least that's what I think.....

We fished it the past 4 days. Water level started out about 2200 saturday morning and the water was in great shape with 4-6 feet of visibility. Water went up each day with rain and probably snow melt up in La grande. As water rose, visibility worsened topping out today around 2600 today with 2 feet visibility. Lots of fish in there and we caught a good number of fish. People really did well on Thursday and Friday. I am assuming the river did some dropping those days. Expect lot's of company if you fish on the weekend.
