Hope you banged something other than just cold, windy and wet. That's the way is was Sunday (and today I bet) in the channel. They are coming soon. Hopefully it will not blow out too bad or for too long. Hope everyone catches Springers this year! Real early yet.

Best to you all. graemlins/applause.gif

Riverliver,

I dont live on the MC, but I do fish there a lot. If you see a black and tan Alumaweld Mirage with a tan canvas and Ifish stickers in both side windows give me a holler

I should be out there in the morning.

Went fishing with Just Zaq and Manimal today to try for those early springers. Sad story is no one told those fish they are supposed to be early. Saw a few fish roll but we did not touch anything. :depressed:

After we had enough we decided to try for sturgeon and I took those guys to my super secret sturgeon spot which was good for one shaker and one squaw fish. Shot down river a little ways and caught a few more shakers.

The lack of fish was not due to the effort, still had fun with ZaQ and Manimal. Hope to fish with you guys again soon and Manimal if you become a G-Man remember who got you into your first gator!

We got checked by the Columbia County Sheriff yesterday when I had my keeper sturgeon hanging on the boat and he said they checked one other guy down by Scappoose Bay that landed two salmon! The water was real off color so go figure!

Nothing for me but the 6 boats below boated 4 fish 2 were nates (both nates by the same guy, bet you he was bummin). I think every seagull in america was on the washington side of the river, must be chasing smelt. Saw 5 sealions activly working the area too.

Fished lower river this afternoon. One take down one fin cliped fish in the box. This fish was on the surface rolling and rolling then the main line broke and this fish was heading out until I did a quick stab at the fish with the net. I love a beckman net with 6 ft. handle, it paid off this time. Actually I didn't want to lose that lucky plug as well............Bobber Down

Right on "Bobber Down" were at on the Lower river?

Your welcome ******!

Just so everyone knows. I gauge the vis the same way every time so it's based on the same scale. I use two yard sticks that are screwed togeither with a peace of yellow tin bent on the end. I continue to lower the yard sticks in the water until I can't readly see the yellow tin any more.
Then of course I get the temp from my new depth finder  Working on a way to gauge and scale the flow.

Good luck!

Tanker Man !! Make sure it's a crisp bill will you please! Don't give me a worn out bill or a bag of pennys!!

When are you going to have time to make those sinkers??? That 1000# of lead you have will keep you busy for a long time. Not going to win the big money that way  If you win the money graemlins/1zhelp.gif it will be crisp, just have to find a way to attach a swivel, then I will make a 16 oz. special cannon ball  Very expensive lead

Good luck tomorrow

Went out for the afternoon tide again today ( I know you guys are saying man this is his third day in a row). Well we hooked a 23-24 lb. nate that was fun to fight after about four major power runs, we got her to the boat for a quick release. One other take down that did'nt stick as well. We have a dropping barrometer so those fish are on the move, so get ready up river for a few fish comming your way. I've been fishing around the Cathlament area for those that have asked.............Bobber Down

Went out this morning, nada fish, nada sniff, nada line bump. I talked to some friends that were in two other locations, they didn't have anything either.
But yesturdays evening tide (I was not there) I know of three boats that were in the same area, that caught six fish. Remember these fish will move prior tho a storm, and with a dropping Barometer they did just that. I miscalculated by 12 hrs. story of my life. But what the hey, thats what makes fishing so much fun..............Bobber Down

Then those must have been fall fish I saw last April.

Certainly didn't see them rolling in numbers like you see coho do, but I saw a least a dozen fish surface last year. More of them were jumping than rolling, however.

Riverliver; What can I say(WET) no really where we fish its 17'to18'depth. I beleave the spingers run shallower then the fall nooks. Can't give the exact spot (you know, zipperlips the word), didn't go today maybe tomorrow I'll be reading posts to see how the water is.

Lost one on 3/7 in 26' of water. It wasn't on long enough to get a look. First trip of the year, but the second will be soon!

Also, how can you tell if a springer is an "upriver" fish vs. a 5 salt Willamette River fish? Thanks in advance.

Bobber Down
03-08-2003, 06:22 PM
Got one today 29.7 lbs. on the lower river one hour before the tide quit. Had two other sniffs but no cigar on those. The wind is starting to pick up (not bad as of yet) but they are calling for 25-35 mph winds tonight. So no fishing tommorow for me unless the weatherman is wrong............Bobber Down

Tyeebuster; The up-river fish are a little more grayer in the belly and on the gill blate with the meat being red in color. Willy fish willbe missing its nose if there's a fish checker near by, most have tags in them.
