On fire, that is how I would describe my boats performance today. We anchored below Kelly Point in the Columbia and proceeded to put on a clinic. We got the first fish after 5 minutes, 49 inch keeper after 30 minutes, a 45 inch keeper about 3 hours later (my dad's first) and then a 43 inch fatty that we let released.
We got about 40 + plus shakers most in the upper 30's/low 40's. Smelt I dipped about 3 weeks ago was the go too bait....
Saw way too many boats anchored in the channel that didn't seem to have a clue. When the big ship sounds its horn 5 times, move your ---!!!! One boat got at least 4 warnings before finally moving leaving their anchor float behind. It was about 15 ft from the ship, a little close for my blood. No fish is worth you boat or worse your life. Pay attention...
Good luck out there....

Small Fry-
I was out there yesterday as well. We managed a lot of fish, only 1 keeper problem is I didn't have it hooked in the mouth... go figure.
Anyway the wind was horrible yesterday, today was a lot better. Mild wind most of the day, but enough current to keep the boat straight, it did however pour. I was soaked to the bone. I recommend some good raingear!!!!
Good luck...

Sounds like a good day RNL
Why dont people get a clue about the shipping trafic? Listen graemlins/dork.gif if you dont move those ships will move you! I read some where when at sea a fully loaded container ship can take 10 miles to stop when it is up to speed... who do you think is going to win that war graemlins/stupid.gif

We fished all the regular spot yesterday below KP and couldn't buy a bite. Saw boats out further in the channel catching fish so we moved. Started getting fish about 10:00 but the bite quite about 12:00. We ended up boating about 15 fish. Lori my wife gat a fat 46 and I measured one more. Not a bad day just not the numbers I'm used to seeing. Glad to hear they’re still in the area.
What dose your boat look like? Ours is an 18 ft Alumaweld FV with a maroon top.

Sounds like maybe a few decent fish have moved in. I second what small fry said about things changing since yesterday. Myself, Threemuch, and Chinook_Hunter fished the punchbowl, T6, and MC. It was shaker city. Moving only brought about a better grade of shakers. Our last move was to the channel just to get out of the wind. Sunday was not the day for sturgies but it was enjoyable all the same.

Rip’N’Lips,
You must not have read the glowing report I gave of your boat yesterday.
We had fun but now you go and catch all of those fish when I wasn’t there. I feel so left out. I may cry. Boo hoo.
:depressed:
Just kiddin'
I’m glad to hear you did well today with your dad on. It's hard to get the fish to coopreate sometimes when you have family on.
See ya next time.
Tight lines.

Fishful-
I didn't see your post, too tired from the long weekend... I need to go back to work so I can get some sleep!!!
Some days your on, and yesterday I was. I actually hooked all 3 of the keepers, my dad was using the facilities (pee bucket) and I set the hook for him, " Dad, I think this one is big"... I released the 3rd one because I wanted to save some of my good luck for next time.
It was a good weekend of fishing, always nice to meet someone new off the board...
I am sure we will meet up again to fish!!

Eric,
Ask Cap'n Dan about kissin' the fish you release. It's better for luck.

Roger the sleeping at work thing.
Being X navy I already know how to sleep at work. Now all I need to learn is how to fish at work and I'll be set.
Three of us fished north of T6 on monday and caught fish after fish all during the out going tide. Only one was a keeper. lots of fat 35" and longer with smelt filled bellies. Saw 2 gillnet boats below KP. One was soakin' his net when we were heading up from the St. Helen's area in the AM. Don't have a clue how they did! graemlins/berry.gif
