Ill be heading out with some new jigs once they arrive. First Cast. My question is for steelhead fishing what size line should I use? Right now im using 15lb. I am going to be using a floating bobber. what size leader should I use? Same as whats on the reel?

use straight 8 pound or 10 pound for jigs.. its all you really need especially if you have a limber long rod like 9 to 10.5 feet.. use some careful skills and you wont have a problem..

Of course there is a different kind.... mine.
Mine only occasionally floats as it is usually submerged and attached to a fish.

There is another kind of bobber, one that sinks about every third cast. Oh wait, I have ANOTHER fish on. :grin:
15 lb. is way too heavy. In clear water I use 8 lb. main with 6 lb. leaders. Not so clear I use 10 and 8 combo. Just my preference. The 15 lb. will have a lot of drag and be hard to keep a natural drift. Although this is from a guy who uses 17 lb. for sturgeon. LOL.

For the most part lately I have been running 20# power pro or tuff xp mainline and 15# leaders on winters. In the summer I run 10# ultragreen.
