Has anyone used these jigs on the North Fork of the Lewis? I am looking into getting 1 jig in each color for from the Winter and Summer steelhead collection as well as the Chinook/King collection. What colors have worked for you on the NFL?

Baskett

I have several customers who do very well using my jigs on the North Fork Lewis.

The standard pink/white is a favorite for many.

Though I can't say if they were FCJs, these are the colors that I have seen work for Steelhead on the NFL:

white/red/black.....short and long tail
red/white...............long
white/red/pink.......short
pink/white..............long
black/red/white......short

I would plan on getting more than just one of every color. Get several in the pink, pink and white, and then perhaps a couple of the purple and pink as well. Then fill out your box with an assortment. I made the mistake of going out with just one pink in my box. I was not happy when I lost that jig and did not have an other to back it up. I have hooked fish using the purple and pink with a black worm but the pink and white is the go to jig...

First Cast, Thanks for the tip. I am eager to receive my jigs that I purchased yesterday. I will be trying them out as soon as they get here.

Fast Water, thanks for the info. Ill definitly try those colors first. Its good to know what colors have worked well for people in the past.

Coho, Once I get the hang of the jigs and see what works for me I plan to buy more. I ended up with one in each color from the Steelhead winter and summer collection and 1 in each color from the King collection. At over $100 to get all this my limit was 1 jig each for now. Once I can convience the girlfriend they work and she is catching fish as well im sure buying more of an assortment will be easy to justify to her. LOL.......

First Cast jigs do not work on the NFL. Especially not the beaded pink/white ones or purple/cerise, blue/white, etc. Waste of your money.......

thumper, The NFL is the main river near my home and I fish it when I have only a shrt time to be out. I also fish several Oregon rivers. I have heard alot of good things about the jigs on the other rivers. Have you used the jigs yourself or is this word of mouth?

BASKETT,

Thumper also claims there have been no silver or king returns in the fall for the past two years on the NFL

Try some of the Cindy's Surprise too. That's a red/pink mix that should work year round.

Good Luck !

Chris

FWF1, I was on the river this last fall. I hooked into some nice fish opposite side of the hatchery. I know they are there. Im still going to give them a try out there.

Baskett --- I boat-fish the middle river, typically from the middle of Eagle Island up to Haapa. Spend a lot of time at the golf course. Occasionally catch a fish there.

Thumper, Yeh I kinda missed the wink icon there. Do you get out to the NFL much? If so which side? I fish either the big rock or on the island when its exposed. I may have seen ya there.
