Anybody know what fishing groups are involved in this lawsuit?

A bunch of news reports about the lawsuit to stop force ODFW to enforce rules against clearcutting on steep slopes to protectd Coho breeding grounds.

Environmentalists: clearcutting harms Coho (http://www.kgw.com/environment/stories/kgw_0211_env_coho_clearcuts.3c50ceb.html)

It mentions "fishing groups" as part of the lawsuit but none of the news stories I could find mention who the fishing groups are.

Thanks

Here's a very helpful link to two articles describing the progress of the case and the legal issues being argued, as well as additional background information on Oregon's forestry laws.

http://www.pacrivers.org/index.cfm

Unfortunately, for our salmon, ODFW continually says they don't manage the habitat and then the responsible agency, Ore.Dept. of Forestry, basically says they don't want to.

Garyk,

Thanks for the info and link to Pacific Rivers Council. I'm guessing they were one of the groups supporting the campaign.

Earth Justice (http://www.earthjustice.org) again.

I sent them an email asking them to list the organizations supporting the various fights for salmon restoration so we could suppor them.

See what kind of answer I get.

Brion -- It's not "ODFW" that is involved in this case. It is ODF, Oregon Department of Forestry.

Basically the case is being made that ODF, which has the authority to regulate logging on state and private lands (not Federal), regularly approves logging plans that damage coho habitat.

When I know the plaintiffs, I'll add that information.
