Where would be the best place to buy a smelt net? I called fisherman's and they have them for 29.99. Is that the best way to go? i.e. quality and price.

Also do I need a lic. for netting them in the Cowlitz? And what is the limit.
I have a non res. fishing lic for Wash.

Alligator,
G.I. Joes is a sponsor of Ifish, but I suppose Fishermans would be a good place too. I just got back from the Cowlitz. It took about 15 minutes for a 10# limit. A lot of people dipping more than their limit. I probably could have finished quicker but I tore a big hole in my net on the second dip. No license is required. There was some talk about increasing the limit to 20#, but I haven't heard if that has happened.

Giz, I might just take advantage of your friendly offer. Dave and I and possible one other friend want to run up and get some smelt tomorrow.

I do want to check pricing and quality of the nets available first. It's one of the things that needs to hang on the garage wall for decor  364 days a year.

Giz, email me your phone number please.

Thanks again for the offer, that I may take you up on.

Picked one up at Sportsman's Warehouse in Salem for $21.99. They just got in 100 of them, but they are going fast according to the salesperson that I bought mine from.

GI Joe's has them on sale right now fow 27 dollars and they look like a sturdy frame and pole but the net material it self did not look as tough as others I have seen.

Ditto on Sportsman's Warehouse in Salem.
Nice net for $21.99, but allow some time to look around, cuz they have lots of cool stuff there.

Big 5 sporting goods in Gresham has them for $18.00-$20.00 dollars. If they have them there they should be at all Big 5 sporting goods stores.
