Has anyone tryed dipping smelt in the Cowlitz today?Thank you.

10 ib line is right dipping was great. I was at the same spot also this morning. Had no problems getting our limits. :smile:

I just got back from the Cowlitz with 50 lbs. We used 2 nets in 10 minutes from 12:50 to 1:00 pm under the green bridge. 95% males

We went up to the park, got 20# in about 20 minutes. The lower end of the park worked for us, although it was tough to get to the water since the river is so high....

Just got back from dipping smelt on the Cowlitz, got two limits in 45 minutes, was under the green bridge, take exit 39 , cross over the cement bridge take immediate right, then park under green bridge, I dipped there, started at 10 a.m..
Lots of males.

We got each of our limits in about 10 minutes each on both Sat. and Sun.. We were on the west side of the river across from the carnival market area.

The wife and I dipped Tues. at the lower boat ramp, 11 am. It took about an hour to get our two limits. That's the way we like it, I don't want to drive that far and limit out faster than it took us to get there anyway. The little buggers must have been just a couple of feet past where my net could reach because the guy by us had a little more reach and he was getting 10 to 20 per dip.

Just a quick FYI for anyone needing smelt.

Just got back from the Cowlitz around Lexington and got limits in about 10 to 15 min. each. :dance:

Do yourself a favor if you go and don't dip in the more than a few times in the same area if you aren't getting smelt this time of year. First stop today was at the steel bridge, 1 or 2 every other dip :depressed: Moved up to carnival and it was the same thing, moved up to Lexington and BLAM three dips and a limit :cheers: and hardly anyone else around.

3/6 (thurs.) 4:00. Just got back from the Cow, twosies, fivesies, occasional tensies. Got four limits in about an hour, but oh! what a georgeous day!
