I am looking for a spare oar. It must be the breakdown type that is a 3 piece unit. Joes, FMS, and the ,arine place next to FMS are blanks. Anyone know who sells them. 9'4" . Material is not too critical, but if I ever need it, I will need it real bad. It is for our drifter.

Maybe Andy and Bax??

Conscience getting to you, Markie?

Good on you to get one. The dog's tail makes for a pretty short throw. Not much of a spare. :hoboy:

Besides, a breakdown oar will allow me to more easily pry that drag loose!

Yeah, but Jerry - Does it have an electric motor on it?

If so, I bet Mark would be "interested" :hoboy:

PS - Mark, I can't help but remembering all the duct tape on your other two oars. Does this mean your spare could be one that originally was not a three piece?

Thanks all. Looks like it's shoppin' time.

Hog- The concsience? No. My bud, who I have been borrowing spare oars from for years finally told me to get one of my own. Jeez.
Duct tape? Thats to keep the front seaters quiet, just in case I have to take one hostage.
It also adds to the counter weights under the tape. 3 pounds of tape. 2 pounds of weights.

Mark --

I think I paid $150 for mine at Clackacraft. But if you tell them you know Roger Newton, you can get it for $175.

Its 3 piece, I think 9 feet even, Carlisle blade.

Andy & Bax definitely has them and in different lengths. They quoted me a price of $80-$90 a few weeks back

One thing you might consider is, what kind of water am I likely to be in the middle of when I break an oar? Rock garden? whitewater? The breakdowns are neat in that they fit in the dry-box, but they are inaccessable. I use a full length oar rested on the oarsman seat with the blade tucked up under the front seats. Completely out of the way and can be employed in 10 seconds. Just a thought as I don't know what kind of water you fish.

River raider,

actually I know it has to be ready oarlock and all. But I am not going to do it that way all the time. Just in the funky water. I understand it is not the best idea to stow it for half the time, but it is better to be half prepared than not prepared at all right? If I had it ready to fire all the time, the dog would have to stay at home- unacceptable.
