My Wife Brought home a video a few years ago about a man named Jay Fair. This man has developed a technique for trolling for lake trout with a special fly. He perfected this technique in California's Eagle Lake. This video sure makes a guy want to go after some big trout with Mr. Fair's technique.
So have any of you i fisher's seen his videos or used his technique.

I've never heard of him. Is it safe to assume that he uses a downrigger to get this fly to the fish??

No down rigger is used for this fishing. It is a cool method  The lines are out any where from 90 to 130' behind the boat and only 8 to 20' deep.

I wind troll at Paulina and East for browns and bows by running light line and a Carey Special about 100 feet back. It is a blast and very productive.

For fishing his Technique you need the fallowing.
Leader 12 to 15' of 8#
10 to 12' of lead core I think it was 12 #
80 or so feet of floating fly line
Daceron backing how much depends on the reel.
He will change the formula depending on the depth of the water he is fishing.
The flies he uses are his own and they are great looking. He fishes them slow with the rod tip low, he rolls his wrist to give the fly a swimming action.
Any one interested I could E mail the Info on how to get the tape.
