02/01/03 Sturgeon trip @ Kelly p. (PICS)

What an Awesome day to be on the Big C.
Fishnxtc, Boedy, Safetychain and myself fished close to Kelly P. today and just put the Hammer to those Gators. We were catching a lot of fish around the 30 mark, very nice sized shakers, we managed to land two Keepers. Boedy got his 43 incher and I got my 48, both of us never caught a keeper before so we were pumped. A lot of nice sized fish in there, must be the smelt.

Safetychain, it was very nice to meet you, I had a great time. We need to hookup and take the kids out sometime.

This was my first Sturgeon trip so I didn’t really know what to expect. I don’t know what all the hype is with catching these gators I had a fish on the first cast and couldn’t keep the damn things off my hook long enough to sit down for the first few hours. It did take me about 5 hours to land my first keeper so I guess that part was kind of hard. :wink:

Had a great day on the water I was ready for rain but we never had a drop on us and the bite was on the whole time. :dance: Think I could start to like this but for my poor arm being soar from hauling in all them Shakers and the one well fed 44 incher. (will be 45 tomorrow I’m sure :grin: )

Fishinxtc thanks for taking me out with you. I had one of the best fishing days of my life and I think I may turn into one of those gator nuts like so many people on here. Thanks again I had a blast look forward to fishing with you again soon.

Safetychain I hope you made it to your Dinner reservations :smile: I just know you would have got that keeper if you only stayed another 30 minutes :wink:

BnB as always was fun fishing with you and look forward to another trip. Maybe Steelhead this week at the zipper.

I had a wonderful day on the river with you guy's. There is nothing better than getting some rookies into a few keeper gators :dance: :dance: :dance: .
Boedy was on fire today from the minute his bait first hit the water. The famous quote from Boedy, "Now I know why they post about their arms hurting after gator fishing" :shocked: :shocked: . BNB was so jazzed when that keeper hit the floor, I could have sworn it was a 5 year old getting his first Bicycle :grin: :grin: . I had a wonderful day just watching theses guy's getting pumped about gator fishing. Safteychain it was a pleasure fishing with you also, Hopefully next time you and I will get the keepers.

Nice job boys!

A couple of observations:

1) Boedy must have done well because with all the sewer overflow from upriver the fish couldn't smell the duck poo! :grin:

2) I'm really happy a boat with Safety Chain on board caught fish! Maybe next time it will be your turn, dude!

I had such a good time catching a keeper with Chris and "fishing-is-life" that I went and spent a bunch of money on sturg gear. Just waitin for another invite now, or I'll be takin my own boat soon! :wink:
