I have a 1989 8hp 2 cycle trolling motor and now that I have switched to a 4 cycle Honda for my big motor I can't take them both off the main tank. I have heard of an oil pump for the 8hp motor and I would like to know if anybody has this setup and how they like it. Also how much did it cost to set up? Thanks in advance for the info.

I have one on my Jetcraft that runs my 15 hp Merc 2-stroke. Unbelievably Convenient! I can't remember the price because I had them put it on when they built my boat.

It is the only way to go!

Skein,

How about a brand name, if you know it and posible size.

Thanks!

It says OMC on the cap, and I went out to take a picture of it and my camera's battery is dead! D'oh!

I'll look up the paperwork and take a picture so you guys can look it over. But I'll tell you now, it's great!

Oh, by the way, I carry a 3-gallon can of mixed gas along just in case something goes awry with the big tank - like a shot of water or crud or whatever. I like the insurance.

I used one (yes they are OMC - Merc doesn't make one) on my merc 9.9. I got it at Browns landing, don't remember the price but it wasn't unreasonable. Worked fine. They're fixed at 50:1 though so you can't lean out the oil to 100:1 for trolling use (highly recommended in small two stroke kickers that troll all the time).

The unit you are taking about is the OMC accumix-r and is a system that will mix you fuel and oil at a ratio of 50/1
The accumix's were readily available thru any OMC parts distributor for about $199 installed but after some serious failures most of the dealers quit selling them (Stevens even recalled a number of them just to protect their customers from failures) OMC (read Bombardier) is back on their feet and offering the units, you can order one thru River Marine in Medford or any other OMC parts dealer but I'm afraid the relyability is still in question, better continue to "mix-it-up yer own self"

Boat Dave,

I musta got a good one because I've used it for almost three years without a problem.

You Betcha,

Here's a couple of pics of my setup. The fuel to the kicker goes through the in-line filter before the injection system. Take a look at how they plumbed the fuel and electrical on the back of the boat. Sweet! My 15 hp is an electric start because my wife runs the boat as much as I do, and I feel better knowing she can just touch the button instead of having to reef on a pull-rope.

Sorry it took me so long to post these, but I lost the thread - it's now 5 pages deep!
