Here is one of the great things about broodstock programs! Bagley caught this beautiful fish on Jan 20. See the missing left Ventral fin. Bagley and I had an excellent day fishing.

Thanks to all that have help over the years to collect the parents of these great fish. Also, thanks to Tillamook Anglers, Oregon Wildlife Hertiage Foundation, and ODFW for their help.

I along with Allen Flanagan are co-ordinating the Wild Broodstock Rodeo this year for The North West Steelheaders. If you have any questions then please email me sstew54@earthlink.net and I'll be happy to answer them for you.
It's great to see these big broodstock fish coming back  It shows that the program is successful and is the future for the North Coast streams.
Another person who has been instrumental in the success of the program is North Coast guide Marty Peterson. Marty has fought hard for the Nestucca river program and we all owe him alot for the time he has put in to get this program going.
Thanks Marty
Jennie of ifish also has been kind enough to donate space on ifish to promote the wild broodstock program so big thanks to her too.
NOTICE: Anyone who wants to be involved in helping collect wild fish for this program MUST be registered with the ODFW to handle and transport wild fish. Your intentions may be good but to harm one of these wild fish while transporting it to the acclimation site at Duycks would be a tragedy.

That bagley is not the lure, it's ifish member "bagley" Pat Abel. Way to go Pat!!! Pat has also contributed greatly to the broodstock cause, he has participated in many events such as the OWHF Rendezvous, The steelhead "rodeo" and "roundup". He and his company also produce the live wells now in use to transport the captured adults for the broodstock program. Thank you Pat!!! That fish is just part of the reward!

Nice picture Pat.

To all you competitive fisherman it should also be noted that Pat's team took first prize last year at the Broodstock Derby and we welcome all challengers this year. So sign up for the Derby and come on down. It should be a good time.
