Where are the Smelt at? Cowlitz? Sandy?

Looking at going dipping for smelt tonight and sturgeon fishing later in the week.

Are the smelt in on the Cowlitz? :whazzup:

Are they in on the Sandy? :shrug:

I am hearing conflicting reports can anybody help me out?

I would prefer to go dipping on the Sandy, but will go to where the smelt are. :cheers: :cheers:

Just got back from the sandy the smelt are not back in they are pulling 1 or 2 a time alot of empty nets.

Watched a few Commercial dippers tonight on the Cowlitz. They were anchoring under the Train Trestle next to Carnival Market on Westside Highway. They were getting quite a few per dip, They may be starting to come in.

Stopped by the Sandy on Sunday and there were a lot of people dipping. From what I could see across from the parking lot not much was going on. I may give it a go later in the week so Ill be watching for updates!

I was out on the Sandy w/Zueth tonight, we got about 70 in a hour. Pretty slow, but we have enough bait for a Saturday Sturgeon Slaughter!

Went on the Sandy off of I-84 right there at Oxbow Park below the bridge from about 7:30 - 9:00 and we were averaging about 2 smelt per every 3 dips. We really had to work hard for the 70 that we got. I am going to give it a week or so before going out again.

Anybody dip on the Cowlitz?
