My wife taught me something about fishing this past weekend that I had never heard. I was complaining about the soap at the kitchen counter not removing the fish smell from my hands. :hoboy: Looking at me as if I were Forrest Gump she handed me a stainless steel spoon. Feeling really silly I asked what is this for? She said "wash your hands under the warm water. Rubbing the stainless steel spoon over your hands will remove the fish smell". I thought I heard her say "dummy" under her breath but that was probably just my ears playing tricks on me.
So I did as she commanded and what do you know. She was RIGHT!!!! It works!!! Now my wife is sure to tell her friends she taught me something relating to fishing. What a great gal.
BTW, she says you can even by stainless steel blocks to used at the sink for removing those undesireable smells. But, Lemon Joy is still cheaper.

OK - so curious fishbrains just have to enquire. Why would SS remove fish odors? Not saying it doesn't work but sure wondering why it would? If there's a reaction going on (the lemon trick is the acid plus the cover up in the smell- good combo.) I sure couldn't tell you why SS would react with fish stink though!   graemlins/stupid.gif  graemlins/dork.gif

Just wait til you're as old as me...your awareness of a fishy smell goes away and so it isn't a problem for YOU anymore...it's only a problem for others

I don't know why it works, but it does. They sell ss things in the Smoky Mountain Knifeworks catalogs.

The stainless works! Gave my 85 year old mother a bar of it a couple years ago and she still marvels at it's effectiveness.

Guess we need a metalurgist Mel to give ya the answer to your question. I am not sure either as to why it works and I work with metal all the time.
I just thought it was a cool idea.
