Read Bill Monroe's article in the Oregonian. Looks like the fish biologists are expecting the major return in the upcoming two months. Due to the change over to broodstock they expect later returns because of the use of native fish. Now I don't know that I'd agree as I've seen a very healthy return to the Nehalem before in late December and January. We used to float the Nehalem most before it became a native river only. On a two day fishing trip we hooked 11/1 natives on the first day and 10/2 hatchery fish on the second day, that was 1995? I think and just after the first of the year. Anyway it's a good article and I'm hoping the biolgists are right. We will have to see what February brings.
