Took my boat out after having some work done to test it out today. It was so nice out I decided to spend an hour or so fishing. So I ran a qwickfish out the back and sat back to enjoy the weather  Next thing I know my rod is acting like I picked up a stick or somthing  But I wait and then line starts comming off the spool kinda slow but steady  I pick up the rod and I can feel the fish but I know its not a salmon by the way it feels  Sure nuff Its a sturgeon on a quickfish. My first sturgeon ever  Should I be supprised ??

Not typical. They do sniff around stuff, especially scented stuff and hook themselves in the mouth once in a while, but a lot more typical with hardware is going to be in the side, back or stomach with Kwikfish or Spinners.

Bait on the bottom will produce the highest success rate and is the method of choice. (Argue that statement and you are a knucklehead  )

Ya' never know though obviously huh. I've seen it too. graemlins/applause.gif

No I have seen several caught up at bonie that way. Especially if you bait wrapped it.
Its not the usual way to do it. It just happens now and then.

dont be too suprised, but dont think you've found the secret method for sturgeon either, as its not going to be your most effective way to catch them - few and far between .... However, I've caught sturgeon on Kwikfish, spinner in 4 feet of water on the rogue, dick night, and prawn spinner......

I caught a 49" sturgeon last year with sardine wrapped K-14 at Reed Island and they were hooking lots of sturgeon up at the dam on spin-glo's also last year and before and before and on and on.

The last two years at Bonneville, back bouncing eggs (8), kwickies (a ton, 4 biggies in 2 hrs) we even got a keeper on a k-10 right out of the wrapper with NO SCENT. I had to reach into it's mouth to get it back!! EUWWWW!

I try like crazy to avoid them. I don't even like touching the ugly things....why do they do this to me?...why?...why?...AAAAHHHHH!!!

I hookef 6 in an hour last year with an Alvin while trying to catch Fall chinook. Of course, the Alvin had herring hanging off of it, I'll try anything once... or maybe 6 times
