I've been lurking here for quite awhile now so I figured it was time to register. My story goes like this: A couple of years back, I took my wife fishing for silvers on the Clackamas. She was quite new to fishing so I set her up with a bobber and eggs. We were wading out near the middle of the river one evening fishing a run on the opposite shore when I hear - "I think I got one!" Just then, the water boils in front of me - sure enough, fish on!! We slowly worked our way to the shore while I coached her on how to play the fish. As we neared shore, the fish seemed to lose its fight and was down below us in the waning light. All of a sudden, she starts yelling - "take the pole, I think its a body! I took the rod and after agreeing with her that is was indeed a body (thats the bad in me), I landed the fish for her.
It was soon evident as to what happened. The fish, after its initial runs, had started rolling around on the surface and had thrown the hook which then caught the leader and lassoed the fish right around the middle. When I told her that it was not fair-hooked and thus we could not keep it (I'm sure it was originally), she released the 15 lb buck -- just thankful it was not a body!! graemlins/hearton.gif

Welcome to Ifish! Do you have a house next to The resort at the Mountain Golf course?? I think there is a road there named Arra Wanna.

Thanks for the welcome. The moniker is from Arrah Wanna Blvd in Welches. That is the area
and year that I really got into steelhead fishing. I miss that late, great stream a lot.

Whew. Good thing it wasn’t a body! Finding a body is one of my worst nightmares. I watch forensic files on discovery and it seems like almost every body is discovered by a hunter, fisherman, hiker, or jogger. I do all of the above. Welcome aboard.
