According to rumors the smelt are thick in Grays river today, 2-3 dips to a limit.

Just called Bobs Sporting Goods in Longview, they confirm the same thing.

Yes, I would certainly believe this report. I went down to Long Beach on Sunday to do some crabbing off the N. Jetty(not good). We went down the WA side and noticed some mondo bird activity in the Gray's right around Rosberg Store. Of course we didn't take a smelt net along, but sure was kicking myself for not doing so. graemlins/stupid.gif However, I'm not sure what kind of harvest this river can handle due to its size. Take only what you need please.

In the Washington regulations it says that Grays River is closed to smelt (eulachon) from the mouth to the Hwy. 4 bridge

Take it with a grain of salt what you hear from Bob's. :rolleyes:


Oh, did I mention they carry the largest selection of smelt nets in Cowlitz County. :grin:
