I read somewhere that unknown unknowns are things we don't know we don't know.

That is how I am feeling about the 2003 winter steelhead season. There must be things I don't I don't know. I have gone 0 for a bunch without a hookup. I have had bad years in the past and quit in the late 80s due to poor results. Started up again a couple years ago and have done pretty good until this year.

I have NOT given up and do not intend to give up. I fish on the weekend and next weekend I have a 4 day weekend and will be fishing sun up to sundown. I will catch a fish.

graemlins/1zhelp.gif WISH ME LUCK as I am trying (new to me ) bobber and jig fishing.

I do not fear the unknown unknowns.

I am having fun. I need not catch a fish to have fun but it would help.

Hey Pop,
don't give up. We all have unlucky streaks. With the low water, fish the fast water. Thats where they'll be, but I wouldn't fish it with jigs.

To paraphrase DJ from just last nite-" Hey folks this is a normal run. Last year anyone could catch a fish, anywhere, anytime, under any condition. This year it is back to normal."

To that I would like to add this-There has been a lot of low water fishing this year- tougher conditions than the last year or two. We have got fish on every trip out since thanksgiving. We may have not landed any, but we had fish on. The last 3 trips I have
been out on, we did not hook a single fish before 2pm. I am far from a pro. If I can do it, so can you.

Folks, get out and fish hard. They will bite. They are in. Fish with confidence.

During the steelhead challenge we did not hook a fish until 3:30. We ended up hooking 3 that day. Keep at it.

Thanks Mark for the pep talk and the report about the late in the day results. I have been getting discouraged and leaving early.

Jennie has her first 2003 steelhead today and I am inspired and will be fishing all day till the skunk gets off my tail.

Good friend in the hospital with heart issues and after visiting him in the morning I am on it. Steelhead beware. papaheg
