zeuth, i stopped by the carver ramp and talked to a couple boats who did not touch any fish. i think the fishing is fair. i am sure Dave Johnson is getting them but not in big numbers. i would give it a shot. everywhere else seems fair as well.

I HOPE there are some fish in the river, I'll bo floating it on Saturday and Sunday for the first time ever!! Not only that, we're coming from Washington. Oh well, that's why it's called "fishing," not "catching."

I fished the clack yesterday with no success. I was banking it up high, then carver area then park place. didn't touch a fish and talked to alot of guys who didn't either. saw alot of trailers so maybe the boats did better.

Hooked one and lost it minutes later on the clack. Fishing has been off and on. Their are definately fish, you just have to work for them.

What should I pack for gear? I know this is an "iffy" question for some, but send me an e-mail if you don't want to announce it.

Thanks.

Fished the Kalamah today, river looks great, some fish being caught, I, as usual, got none.
Talked to drift boaters and they were getting a few fish. Tuesday, a school of fish went through, nice l5 lb SH caught at beginers hole with red and pink jig, other fished hooked there using eggs and sand shrimp. Dead Line big SH in the 20lb class was hooked and lost.
I wouldn't back away from fishing the river this week-end.
Hope this helps.
Good Fishing.

Floated Barton to Carver today. One fish hooked on a pink corkie and my eggs, but lost it after a short fight. Didn't hear of any other fish hooked or caught. Lots of boat traffic.

rola76, depending on how you fish, i would bring plugs and diver and bait. alot of people like to side drift/boondoggle with light lead pencil and 3-5 ft leaders with a small gob of egg and corkie/cheater (pink/red) using spinning gear. maybe i will see you guys on Monday. i just remembered i have the day off thanks to the late MLK. good luck and please be safe (see other thread). let me know when you guys are coming up and i would show you from riverside to barton if i can get free. sometimes if you pick the wrong side it can mean bad things.

p.s.:

dont forget the life jackets. i found out last night reading a newsletter from the marine board that the life jackets not only have to be on board but the have to be accesible not in storage.

I fished the Clack after work on Wed. River was perfect condition, and found no biters. Fished from Riverside up to the Rock Garden. I tried plugs as well as side drifted through Coffee's. Saw 3 other boats, all were fishless.

RE Kalama:
Just talked to a friend of mine and he took a big(16lb)hen out of the "slab hole"(sorry I'm unfamilar with the stream) on Tuesday. Did the eggs that night and will smoke and grill the meat tomorrow(saturday).
He caught it late(430ish)-- after fishing for a while he hadlost his rig and was about to bag it, when he decided to put on a spinner, he moved up to faster water and POW!.He was spotted hiking out by the fish and game lady and she was impressed(her third fish of day),stating it was the nicest fish this winter that she had seen. She moved her "magic scanner" over the fish and the cheek chip implant indicated it was a 2000 fish.
Interestingly, his fish weighed 16lbs but was only 32 inches.Fat mommy.
