My wife is getting the itch for some fun and sun. I've got the same old "we might as well fish while we're there" itch.

Has anyone fished the Ixtapa Zihuantanejo area in February and March?

Are there big Roosters at that time? Mmm "Pez Gallo!"

May end up in Cabo instead.

Any info is appreciated.

I am Ug's wife and my father lived there for 7 years. The fishing is great in Feb. and March. We caught sailfish and dorado. My father was a fisherman all of his 67 years in life and died doing what he loved best! When he could no longer fish the ocean due to his health I bought him a sega fishing game where he did from his bed. My dad new where to go to catch fish and Zihuat was the place for fish everytime. In fact we spread his ashes there so he could direct the fisherman in the morning to tell them which way to go to catch fish.

The sun is great the people are friendly and I will never foget the times fishing there. I highly reccomend it!!!!

Hi Bruce, My old friend Rusty has a time share in Ixtapa and he goes fishing there about twice a year. He does well every time he goes out, mostly for the sailfish but he catches a wide range of fish down there. He told me that when you plan a trip to go down there, do it when there isnt a full moon. He said the only times he didnt do that great is when there is a full moon. I dont know how much credence to lend to that statement. I have never been and dont know too much about it. Might want to ask around though. He has an arrangement with a fishing guide down there, he brings two big game fishing rods down with him and gives them to the guide and the guide fishes him and his friends for free for the 3-4 days that they are down there. He says that fishing gear is hard to come by down there.
So if you go, maybe take a big rod down with you. It might just pay for your fishing trips. G/L djb

Opposite of UGLYgreen!<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">I think that name has been taken. I was reading a post just the other day about halibut fishing and the poster said, "my buddy was pretty green!"

Nice story. No wonder you can put up with UG, you had practice.

GRB,
Maybe you should rethink things about taking David Johnson, he catches fish where ever he goes. I'll almost bet he could catch a steelhead down there. Tight Lines  Tom
